Vermont Deficit: Best of the Worst
Vermont’s FY2010 budget shortfall was originally pegged at 16.5% by The Taxpayers Network, the smallest deficit of the nation’s 10 worst. Ten states including Vermont faced deficits of more than 15 percent. They ranged from highs of 37.6 in Nevada and more than 20 percent in New York, California and Arizona. Vermont’s deficit challenges for next year loom even larger than those of the current budget.
